Should you really share your faith, in business?

One of the greatest lies, from the father of lies, is that “no one should know about your faith.”

The devil has convinced a magnitude of Christians, far and wide, that your faith is private. That your faith needs to stay in your heart but not be out in the open of your daily life. That talking about your Christian convictions makes people uncomfortable, and to “stop shoving your Jesus down everyone’s throat.” That we shouldn’t try to change policies in schools, or the way we handle business or even political ideology, that come from our Christian faith.

The truth is, that our faith is not just private, it is also PUBLIC!

When you choose to live as a Christian, know that you ARE signing up for persecution , resistance, opposition and criticism. So, why is it so important to share our Christian faith even in our businesses? It’s not just that Jesus lives in our hearts, it’s that HE IS LORD OVER ALL… that means EVERYTHING! Even our businesses.

One of my favorite prophetic voices in business, Lance Wallnau, talks about “The 7 mountains of spiritual warfare” and how we all have been placed in certain areas of influence like education, business or government, just to name a few. And if we want to see real local, national and international transformation and revival, we have to agree with Holy Spirit where He is sending us to be a light for Christ, and winning souls for the Kingdom.

Jesus empowers us to be bold and courageous in the sharing of The Truth in a world that is so in love with darkness.

You may be wondering… what if I lose clients or customers because I am a “faith-based business”?
My answer… so what?! Let them.
Listen, I have been in business as a Christian since 2018 and I can count the number of clients that decided to walk away from my business because I shared my faith… it’s less than 10.

I want to encourage you today… if you believe that God has your business in His hands, then that means He is sending you the exact people that you need to touch with His truth, mercy, grace, kindness and love. We should always speak the truth in love, of course, and if someone decides to not do business with you, or part ways after being a loyal and faithful client/customer for years, then you did your job. You planted a seed. Maybe that’s all God needed you to do for that individual.

When I started hiring unbelieving employees, I thought it was my job to “save them”, and bring them to Christ.

I do not believe that I ever did… but what I do know is that I made sure to be the truth and light of Christ in their life. Did I always get it right? Nope! I have bad days too… But I know that where I fell short, God was going to use it for good.

I’m saying all of this to end up here… (and thank you for reading this far, because this is important)… I promise you, the more you share your faith, the more you love and serve people with your gifts, and steward what God has entrusted into your care, the financial blessings WILL come.

People will talk about you, their experience with you, your brand or business and tell others to as well. Most people don’t understand the benefit of doing business with a Christian entrepreneur, and the ones who choose to stay away, are really the ones missing out.

I’d love to go into detail about how as Christians we also shouldn’t be door mats to rude customers/employees either… but I’m gong to leave that for another time. Once I share about it, I will be sure to link it here. (stay tuned)

So, tell me… what is one thing you are going to start doing differently today or this week to share your faith within your business and community? I will warn you, that if you have never shared your faith publicly on social, newsletters, or any other form of marketing/advertising you will see people fall away. But it’s just making room for others that want to cheer you on, hear what you have to say. People who are really looking for truth, for a voice to trust, and want Jesus!

If you are looking for some fun, creative ways to share the gospel, to get your feet wet… (no pun intended) then here are some things you can do:

  1. Hand out “a little Jesus” - I order these ‘little Jesus’ figures for something fun to do with my son when we’re out running errands. I leave a box of them in my car and I usually grab a handful at a time and have my toddler give them to the individuals he wants to. My lead in is typically, “Here, everyone needs a little Jesus in their life!” It’s a fun, harmless way to share a smile, God’s love and also, if you have littles, to get them evangelizing at a young age.

  2. Tracks from the New Testament - I’ve also ordered these tracks of the book of John to hand out to homeless people in a city near by where I live. You can also put these, along with a “little Jesus” inside of a new client grab bag (for bring and mortar businesses), or send them in an order if you package and ship your own retail items.

  3. Offering to pray for someone (<blog post) - This one typically takes some leading up to, especially if you’re a bit of a newbie sharing your faith or timid, but this is by far the most powerful! Offering to pray for a client, patient, customer really sets the tone and the bar of who you are and how much you care for people. And (from personal experience) if someone declines prayer, respectfully say “okay”, then continue to pray in your head. LOL

For anyone of these, if you have a LARGE following or customer base and you don’t see or talk to your people on a one to one basis, or ordering small items like the “little Jesus” and tracks are not in your budget, then offer up a page or some type of digital space to receive prayer requests. I did this for a long time, and I will warn you, my inbox began to be flooded.

The world is hurting and needs Jesus.
NOW is the time to rise and shine His light in the area of influence He has placed you in.

This is not our home, and it hurts me to think of all of those who will not make it to Heaven.
So with an eternal mindset, I want to encourage you today to BE COURAGEOUS, step out IN FAITH and share what God has done for you, and what He can do for others.

We never know who is really watching, and I bet you anything… you will inspire someone else to do the same. ;)

With love and kindness,

Meghan LeBlanc
